12 Questions To Ask When Looking At Photo Booths For Your Wedding

1. Real Photo Booths ? Since we have been renting out our photo booth for the last 4 years we have seen photo booths getting more and more popular. We have also seen photo booth “style” photos that people claim are a photo booth. First and foremost is to know the difference between a real photo booth and photo booth “style” photos. There is a difference. People act so different when they are in a real photo booth and not just standing in the wide open for all to see. Make sure you know what the photo booths looks like. Will it look good in your venue? Our photo booth is one that you can get in, close the drapes, press a button and let the photo booth take a series of photos automatically. The best part is having prints ready 8 seconds after your session for everyone that goes in the photo booth. Our Photo Booth also has a video capability that will allow your guests to record a 30 second video greeting. After the event, you will receive a running DVD of all the greetings.

2. Social Media Uploads? Our photo booths allow your guests to upload their pictures & Video directly to a Facebook account or send to an Email address. Your guests will be sharing photos in real time.

3. Quality of The Photo Booths ! If you decide you want photo booths for your event you will want to make sure you get a high quality photo booth, high quality photos, and a high quality guest book. Make sure you ask for samples and check out samples on websites. You get what you pay for so take the time to really research for the best photo booth for you. We can print in glossy or matte, color or black & white, and we only use the highest quality printers and equipment. We produce the most amazing professional lab quality prints around. Contact us and we will send you sample prints so you can see the difference.

4. How Much Are Photo Booths ? – In the Indianapolis, Indiana area the amount you should expect to pay for a photo booth rental can range anywhere between $800-$1500 for a 3-5 hour rental. You can certainly find Photo Booths for less but be prepared for blurry pictures, red eye, under or over exposed images to name a few. REAL Photo booths are dependable, sturdy and will not be subject to being knocked down by a large groomsmen who has been over-served. You can’t put a price on the memories and joy from re-visiting your event again and again through the photo Booth.

5. Time of Rental For Photo Booths - Most events are at least 3-4 hours. This really depends on the total number of guests you expect to come. Our photo booths are such a hit that it is normally being occupied even after the event is over. Plan for this. Make sure you know if extra charges apply for going over your time.

6. Guest Book Capability. Is it included? If not, how much extra are you going to have to pay? Gone are the days of a guest book filled with a list of names. Having a guest book accompany the photo booth is a wonderful way for your guest to leave their best wishes along side their photo. Our photo booth prints doubles so after leaving one in the guest book your guests will also take one home as a souvenir. The signing table, pens, scissors, and extra pages for the guestbook are all important and should be included. Our Photo Booth Guest Book is a high quality name brand album with removable pages.

7. Can Guests Get Extra Prints? We make sure everyone will get to take a copy home. Other photo booth company’s don’t do this at all or may charge extra for this, we don’t. This means that if 4 people get in the photo booth that all 4 people will get to take a copy of the photo strip home and we will print out another one on top of that for them to put in your Photo Booth Guest Book. A true win win situation all around.

8. Logo And Branding – Brand the photo booths and the photo booths strips. Putting the Bride & Groom’s name and date on the photo booth strips or a company logo are a perfect way to turn your photo booth into an unforgettable wedding/party favor. We include this for FREE. We also offer a custom printed banner of the Bride and Groom’s engagement picture and greeting for a small additional fee.

9. What Happens After Your Event? What happens to your photo booths prints? the images from our photo booths are uploaded to a password protected gallery with no expiration date so you and all your guests can download a free digital copy. We then burn all of the high resolution images from the photo booth to a DVD and include a shared copyright release? This is all included with our packages.

10. Do Your Homework! There are plenty of cheap photo booths out there that are home made and have poor quality images. We are not one of them. Our Photo Booths are designed blend into a wedding reception and perform effortlessly giving your guests a REAL Photo Booth experience. Just remember the old saying “You get what you pay for!” applies still today.

11. How Far In Advance Do You Need To Book? Weekends fill up very quickly with us so plan on booking our photo booth for your event at least 2-6 months in advance.

12. FREE PHOTO BOOTH? DeFabis Photogrpahy is the ONLY wedding photographer in Indiana who offers FREE PHOTO BOOTHS WITH ON SELECTED PACKAGES.

AVOID A WEDDING DISASTER

JOES DEFABIS’ LIST OF 5 MUST ASK QUESTIONS TO ASK WHEN HIRING A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER.

I have been hearing many more horror stories from lately couples who have regretted the decision they made in choosing a wedding photographer. Your wedding images will be cherished and viewed not only for your lifetime, but your children’s as well. One of the biggest mistakes a Bride can make about your wedding photographer is to assume that all photographers are capable of producing “Professional” images from their wedding day. This can lead to disaster so I have prepared a list of 5 MUST ASK QUESTIONS FOR YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER. I hope this helps you avoid the disappointment and heartache of some who were not as fortunate to get this advice.

There is a huge difference between a professional photographer and an individual who has purchased a great camera, have had some luck in creating a really nice image or two and feel confident enough to tackle an entire wedding often to find that they are in over their heads or in a situation that requires much more experience or equipment. I hope this list of questions helps you make a more informed decision about your wedding photographer.

1. What kind of wedding experience do you have?
Wedding photography is very demanding for even an experienced photographer. Wedding photographers have to be able to adapt to every situation during a wedding, and they have to react instantly and with confidence because there is oftentimes no second chance. Surprise situations happen all the time at weddings, such as a bride’s reaction to seeing a long lost cousin, or the groom spontaneously picks up his bride and swings her around. If the photographer is inexperienced, those are moments that can be missed if they are not ready or not anticipating the moment. Also, the variety of photographic challenges is enormous. Some venues are dark, some lit with fluorescent lights, some have mottled shade, some have constantly changing light such as a partly cloudy day. The better photographers tend to cost more precisely because of that experience and their work should reflect it.

2. What equipment do you bring to a wedding?

There is a huge difference between a professional DSLR camera and a consumer model. Without getting into makes and models of cameras, a simple way to see if your photographer is using professional equipment is to just ask how much his camera body costs. A professional grade DSLR ranges between $2500. and $5500. Anything below that will not produce “professional” quality images, especially from a wedding party of 15- 20 people. At the very least, your photographer should bring 2 – 3 professional camera bodies to your wedding with at least 1 – wide angle lens, 1 – medium length lens, and 1 – telephoto lens. ALL THE LENSES SHOULD BE A 2.8 APERTURE ( usually $1500.00 each ). As far as flash photography goes, your photographer should use both on camera flash and an additional light for off camera situations. One flash on the camera is just not enough horsepower to light a large wedding party in a church! Beware that some photographers will rent equipment for your wedding day, they are often surprised when the local camera store has already rented the camera or lens and they have to do without at your wedding, leaving your wedding images to suffer.

3. Can I see some sample albums of COMPLETE weddings?
Every wedding photographer should be able to show you some samples of COMPLETE weddings they have shot. If they only show you a couple of highlights from selected weddings, you won’t have a very clear idea of how your pictures will turn out or maybe they can’t photograph all parts of the wedding with professional results. A professional photographer will be able to show you pictures from the whole day of a complete wedding, so you should see pictures of people getting ready, the ceremony itself, the formal group pictures and portraits, and the of course the reception.

4. How much direction or posing do you do during the day?
This question speaks to style and how you will interact with your photographer during the day. An experienced photographer will combine photojournalistic images and elegant posed images from your day. Beware of the photographer who shows only “ non posed or purely photojournalistic images, they may not have the experience to pull of that stunning portrait of you in your dress or captures the beautiful architecture of the church.

that looks natural, shows all the detail in your dress and compliments your figure. An experienced wedding photographer will direct you in some basic modeling positions to make you look amazing in your wedding photographs.

5. Do you have a contract, insurance, and tax ID number ?
The photographers contract should at the very least describe in detail what you are getting (prints, albums, slideshows, CDs of files, hours of time, etc.), when you can expect to get it, how much it costs, when your payments are due, and what is refundable or not. If there are any terms in the contract you don’

So there you have it, five MUST ASK questions to talk over with your photographer. The key thing to remember is, don’t be afraid to ask questions, even after you’ve signed on the dotted line.

One day in the Garden of Eden, Eve called out to God that she had a problem. “What’s the problem, Eve?” He responded. “Lord, I know you’ve created me and have provided this beautiful garden and all of these wonderful animals, but I am still so lonely.” God replied, “I have a solution for you, Eve. I shall create a man to keep you company.”

Then Eve inquired, “What is a ‘man’, Lord?” God explained, “A man is a flawed creature with aggressive tendencies, an enormous ego, and an inability to empathize or listen. All in all, he’ll make life more difficult, but, he will be bigger and more muscular than you, and therefore able to help out around the garden. He’ll be really good at fighting and kicking a ball around, and he will enjoy hunting fleet-footed ruminants.”

“Okay, if that’s the best you can do,” replied Eve. God chided “Yeah, well, he’ll be better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick! Now, you can only have him under one condition.” “What is it, Lord?” asked Eve. “You must let him believe that I created him first.”
